Ron Riggert and Dan Lemieux at Groton Hill Music Center

A most generous gift from long-time Peace member Ron Riggert allowed New York organ builder Tim Smith to design and build a pipe organ for our church. The organ was completed and dedicated in 2019.

Tim Smith handed off maintenance and tuning of the Peace organ to Dan Lemieux, founder and owner of Meta Organworks of Argyle, New York.

Meta Organworks designed and built the organ for the new Groton Hill Music Center in Groton, Massachusetts. Ron Riggert, Jeff and Kirsten Johnson, and Bob Holmgren attended the dedicatory concert of the Groton Hill Music Center organ.

Groton Hill Music Center is now home to one of the largest Hauptwerk installations in the world. Built by Meta Organworks of upstate New York, this instrument is not an “electronic” or “digital” organ, but rather a “Virtual Pipe Organ” (VPO) driven by the Hauptwerk software. Hauptwerk is the German term for the “Great,” or primary keyboard of an organ. -from the Groton Hill Music Center Music Center

Dave, Chris and Liam replacing the nursery floor!

Your “Peace Elite Builders Team” hit the pavement on Sat and Sun last weekend and updated the old tile floor in the nursery.  Chris Munford was definitely the lead builder, and brought Liam to help — while Scheidy did his best to slow everyone down as much as possible!  The new floor is in (the old one fought hard fyi, it did not want to come up — lots of glue).  It looks great and we hope it helps.  Now that the floor is done, we were hoping maybe a small group of volunteers would paint the floor trim pieces (don’t forget to tape/protect the new floor!) and also go through all the toys and books and throw out some items in the dumpster and suggest any new purchases we may need just to revive/update the nursery — thanks!

Welcome Dresser Family!

Wayland residents, Chuck and Elena Dresser, and their daughters, Holly and Emelia, were welcomed as members of the congregation on Sunday, November 27, 2022. The Dresser family, including their dog Max, came to Peace for the first time in 2021 for the blessing of the animals.

Elena’s Baptism in Finland

Elena Dresser was born Elena Serova in 1987, in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, Russia, the ninth of ten children born to Galina Serova (1954-2007) and Vasily Serov (1950- 1992).

When her father died, Elena was taken to a children’s home (orphanage). There she was selected to visit the Lutheran camps in Finland on summer, fall, and winter vacations.

On a summer visit in 1999 Elena was baptized by Pastor Pauli Pakerninen in Lake So-Melkutin. She remains in contact with members of the Lutheran camp community in Finland.

In 2004 Elena was adopted by an American family in Wayland.
